Apr. 29, 2017 – Chatham Branch Library
Seventeen authors gathered at the Chatham branch of the local library on Saturday April 29, 2017 as part of Read Local Author Festival. The event was set up in the cafe where we were visited by people interested in reading and meeting local authors. There was also a panel discussion for those interested in learning more about the writing and publishing process. We had a really good turn out. I also got to meet a number of authors personally and talk to them about the writing process which is always lovely. The day ended with readings from the authors. Thanks to the staff of the Chatham Public Library for supporting local writers.
Apr. 22, 2017 – Cole’s Book Signing
I was thrilled to be asked to be a part of an author book signing at Cole’s Books in Chatham Saturday, April 22, 2017, after one of the staff read my book an enjoyed it. The girls made me, and five other local authors feel most welcome and were so enthusiastic about the having us all come in for the event. What a wonderful experience it was to meet the other authors to compare notes, and get some exposure out in the community. Thanks again to all the girls at Cole’s for your efforts.
Mar. 24, 2017 – Blenheim Retirement Village
I had the pleasure of being asked to speak/read to the residents of Blenheim Retirement Village March 24, 2017 thanks to the efforts of Meagan Simmons who is the Lifestyle Consultant for retirement homes in Blenheim and Ridgetown, Ontario. We met from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm in the dining room where I read from my book and talked about how I came to write River of the Stick Wavers. Tea and cookies, made with the image of my book on the front, were served while I had the opportunity to chat with the residents. A lovely afternoon was had by all in attendance.
Nov. 30, 2016 – Festive Fair at Union Gas
Each year during the Christmas Season Union Gas opens its doors for vendors to come in and sell their wares.  Since my husband works here, I was able to get a table.  I was the only writer in the room giving the event a different feel.  There were so many wonderful things for sale, I was hard pressed not to buy anything — well not much anyway. Part of getting out into the community to sell my book is all the wonderful people I get to meet.  I saw some old friends and made a few new ones.
Nov. 19, 2016 – Chatham-Kent Public Library Author Festival
The library invited local authors to get together to display their books, and talk to readers about writing and publishing.  I was chosen to do a reading which was followed by a question and answer period.  It was wonderful gathering together with other writers and sharing our struggles.  Thank you Chatham-Kent Public Library for putting on this event.
Nov. 13, 2016 – Book Launch
Writing a book is more difficult than I could ever imagine.  But publishing it, is equally difficult. Then I had to plan a book launch, something else I’d never done. It was all very exciting and new…and exhausting. I kept wondering, “When is this going to be fun?” It was then I decided that once I’d set up the room with my nature theme, to reflect the setting of the book, and arranged for the food and wine, I was going to relax and enjoy myself.  It turned out to be an amazing afternoon of celebration with my friends. Along with the food, we had draws for anyone who purchased a book. I gave a speech and did a reading. People who hadn’t seen each other got reacquainted. My son took some wonderful pictures. I didn’t even know he taking them, I was so present in the moment. All in all, it was a fantastic afternoon. Thanks to all those who were involved. To read the speech I gave, click here.
