MY WRITER’S JOURNAL – Sept. 18/17 – Writing Groups

A few days ago, I wrote about how lonely it can be sometimes when you’re a writer. I spend a lot of time in front of my computer pecking away at the keys, making notes for my research to add to my already thick binder, as I try to piece together my story from the bits and pieces I’ve accumulated over time. Most days it doesn’t bother me to work alone, but there are days when I simply want to feel connected to another.

On this particular day, I did reach out to a writer friend from New Hampshire that I met on Facebook and she understood perfectly what I was going through. This helped a lot.  The next thing I knew, she’d recommended me as an addition to an online writing group she is a part of called Writing from the Heart. It’s only been a few days that I’ve been part of the group, but  I already feel right at home. Each morning I wake up to a writing prompt in my mailbox on various topics to do with memoir writing. Through their responses, I am getting to know everyone, and most importantly, I am connecting in a meaningful way with other writers who have welcomed me into their fold.
